Copywriters: what to do when you are accused of using AI
A client believes ad copy, landing pages or email sequences were generated.
- What is at stake
- Short, high-value deliverables where the accusation can arrive before the invoice clears.
- Your evidence position
- Iteration. Copy is rewritten constantly and the versions usually survive in a doc, a project management tool, or email threads with the client. Those threads are also evidence that the client shaped the wording.
- Do this first
- Send the revision history and the email thread where the direction changed. It shows the copy being built, not delivered.
- The trap
- Short deliverables with almost no paper trail. A 40-word headline has little process to show, which is an argument for recording the process before you need it.

Copywriter disputes usually turn on the same few things: what a detector actually claims about its own accuracy, which pieces of evidence survive scrutiny, and whether a contract put the risk on you. The pages below cover each.
