Sapling and false positives

What it claims

Sapling's own detector page says false positives can happen, especially when text is shorter, more general, or more essay-like.

Where it fails

Being embedded in a writing tool means people run it on their own work and frighten themselves. A flagged draft is not a finding from anyone.

How to respond

If the accusation originated from someone running your text through a free tool, say so plainly and ask what decision is being made on that basis.

Worth knowing

Vendor guidance that a result is unreliable is not an admission if the vendor wrote it first. Quote it.
